The Terminal

Viktor Navorski arrives at New York's JFK airport from the fictional Eastern European country of Krakozhia, only to learn that his country has just had a coup and his passport is no longer valid. Unable to enter the United States or return home, he must live inside the international terminal indefinitely. Over months, he learns English, makes friends with airport workers, and falls for a flight attendant. It's a gentle, hopeful film about patience and human connection. For English learners: B1 level. Excellent for learners because Viktor speaks broken English at the start and improves throughout the film — his journey mirrors the language-learning experience. American English from the supporting cast is clear and moderate-paced. Recommended for any learner who wants encouragement.
